Sell Old Computer Games & Consoles for Cash

Leave the first response July 15, 2009 / Posted in Games

Everyone knows about recycling old mobiles for cash but Speedsell have taken that concept a step further. They are willing to change your old computer games, consoles and even Apple Laptops into cold hard cash. If you’ve got an Playstation, Playstation 2 or a Nintendo 64, for example, and a bundle of games you could send them all off to Speedsell. They do take newer consoles too and games too.

The older the console, the less money you’ll get, but it might be better moving it on via Speedsell than say leaving it to gather dust in a cupboard!

So what kind of value can you expect?

A Playstation One in reasonable condition will get you just £3. That may not seem a good deal, but compare that to PS1 auctions on eBay and you’ll see that there are plenty of lots without bidders, even at just 99p!

A good condition PS3 40GB will get you just under £100 whilst an Xbox 360 Arcade is valued at a mere £36! Prices change regularly so why not try and search and see what your games or console is worth?

Computer game prices tend to be rock bottom. For old format games you’re really looking at just 20p a game so it’s not a lot of money. For recent format games (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 etc) we actually suggest you first look at Play.com’s Marketplace. You sell the item at the price you want and then can either withdraw the money (if sold) or use it to buy items at Play.

The process at Speedsell is pretty straightforward though. You tell them what you have to sell, they’ll then send a courier to collect your stuff (it’s free if the value is over £25), and then you get paid within 4 days by cheque or Paypal (provided everything’s ok).

We think Speedsell is worth a look, especially if you’re struggling to move old consoles and games on or you can’t be bothered with the hassle of eBay or Marketplace selling. However do look around eBay and see whether items are moving and the value they’re selling at.

If you’ve used Speedsell then let us know your experiences. Or do you know of somewhere else that gives you cash for your old games and consoles?

Free Software Lucky Dip from Ministry of Deals

Whilst our MPs are under scrutiny about their expenses there’s one ministry where there’s a nice freebie offer that needs little investigating. Ministry of Deals is a new site that offers 4 deals a day for just 24 hours. One of those deals is a free software lucky dip and the only cost to you is postage and packing and that’s just £2 (or free if you choose another deal).

Ministry of Deals

The free game will be for your PC and it could be a game, utility or security tool. It’s a shame that Ministry of Deals don’t provide a list of possible titles just to see if they’re really worth the £2 postage and packing.

All we have to go on at the moment is the images shown on the site. For example there’s a Postman Pat PC game – and that costs £4.99 from Amazon, whilst National Geographic Trivia Trek is £13.20. Of course it’s just a lucky dip and it may well be you end up with a security tool or utility that you could always put on eBay and see if you can make a few pence more from it?

If you do decide to take up this freebie offer let us know what you receive – and whether you think it’s a good offer or not!
